Although death will happen to all of us, we rarely think about our own death.

We–you, I, us–shuffle through life, going to a job, clocking in, punching out, driving home, checking e-mail, Facebook, clicking through the channels, unwinding in front of a television program that entertains us, often by making us feel superior in some way.

Walking the treadmill
It’s easy enough to get caught up in the treadmill, chasing that invisible carrot in front of us, working at jobs we don’t like to buy things we don’t need to compete with people we don’t know, trying to satiate some type of spiritual malnourishment.

We get caught up in trying to be accepted by other people, so much so, that we forget who we really are, and what we really care about.

This is death by a thousand tiny pin pricks.

Recognize who you are
Becoming something different in order to be accepted by the mass majority is death by a thousand pinpricks, as it’s a slow way to die, one in which you don’t notice the extent of your injury until who you were has been spilled out in the last drop of blood.

The best way to introduce real change is to change your state–mental, physical, spiritual, emotional.

You can change your state by changing your influences.

Do something different
Read books. Watch informative shows and documentaries. Eat different. Go to church. Visit a hospital or nursing home and spend a day going room-to-room, talking to the patients and listening to their stories. Start riding a bicycle 50% of the time. Unplug the TV for one week. Only check Facebook every 3 days.

You don’t have to die the death by a thousand tiny pin pricks. Learn something different. Eventually, you’ll become someone different.

Someday is now. Somewhere is here. Someone is you.
