An Inside Look at Text Messages of New York City Pedestrians – Illustration

I don’t text message that much but since I live in a place that’s populated with college students, I see a lot of it, especially when I’m downtown. It’s seldom that I see guys texting, unless they are very well dressed and sitting by themselves. Girls, however, are a different story.

If you happen to be in downtown Burlington, Vermont, on Church Street, you’ll see them–packs of girls, probably between the ages of 18-20 roaming side by side, their eyes fixated on the little glowing screens in front of them, their thumbs clicking away.

Because it’s winter and streets can be somewhat slippery and even dangerous, I’m guessing the texting isn’t as prevalent as during summer months.

Cellphone friendly sites
Recently, I visited a cool site called www.mobiforge.com that has a free wordpress theme for a .mobi site, which are sites that are made for mobile phone. They’re simple looking sites due to cellphones smaller screen size.

I picked some pretty cool domain names at www.namescheap.com and added some quick content, using WP robot, which is an auto blog, meaning it harvests web content from other websites. You can specify the RSS (Really Simple Syndicate) feeds or even incorporate datafeed .csv files from affiliate sites. It’s kind of complicated but interesting to learn at the same time.
